I was pretty happy when I read that Gimme Indie was streaming Wakey!Wakey’s concert in Stockholm. Then I had to calculate what time it would be in Newcastle, New South Wales …… 7.30 am (unfortunately, I quickly realised that it would be really early for me to watch Rosi Golan as well..). I am an au pair here, and I normally wake up at 7.30 to start my day at 8.00 and prepare the kids’ breakfast. So, because I didn’t want to miss the beginning, I woke up at 7.00 and was ready at 7.30 for the concert :D
Then, I was torn between keep watching and make the kids wait a little bit (which sounds awful right now) OR say goodbye to Mike, Tanya, & Stockholm. Of course, I knew by then that I could be able to listen to it a bit later, but LIVE STREAM made the difference !!!!
I did my job but left my laptop on the Gimme Indie homepage with Wakey!Wakey! :) & made a lot of return trips between my bedroom and the kitchen (both on the ground floor, hopefully).
And here comes the funny - not so funny - part. Mike was singing Brooklyn and because I was listening to this wonderful song, I COMPLETELY forgot about the raisin bread slices in the toaster…………… sorry, let me correct … in the crazy toaster (it never ever pops !). The 2 last slices of raisin bread in the house. Obviously, it was for the children; I have been such a bad au pair this morning.
So, thank you Mike ! Because of your amazing talent, 2 unfortunate little children had to have simple cereals for breakfast this morning !
But despite this incident, I really enjoyed my morning :)
More seriousy, I would like to thank all those incredible people : Family Records team, Tsuua, Gimme Indie and last but not least, Wakey!Wakey!
Watching a live stream of Wakey!Wakey! live from Sweden right now. If you haven’t heard of this band or heard any of there music, you haven’t lived. And when you see them live, it seals the deal; you’re a fan for life.
This is my personal favourite song (or at least today anyway). Enjoy and you’re welcome :)
Wakey! Wakey! is one of those bands which made their way to me because of a passionate music fan and friend of mine – he did talk so much about them that I simply had to listen (Oh, let’s be honest, I love good recommendations by friends and strangers). And he is absolutely right – they are…
